bits and bobs and batmans

oh my gosh hello! you're still here? we haven't been. we've been busy painting and drawing and looking at videos of pandas falling out of trees (what is wrong with them!?).

soon enough we'll put up detailed photos of our first parrot set and others as we finish them, and we'll even be selling our little dolls too. but in the meantime please enjoy this page of failed ideas from our sketchbook...

schaffaaaaaaarghghgrherx7's!

fond greetings sir/madam! my name is the mantis. pleased to make your acquaintance.

i trust that by now you're familiar with the schaffas, those funny little wooden toys made by the finest t-shirterers in the business, screamdance.

the launch of last friday was a roaring success and, ignoring my avian counterpart's self-deprecating remarks, every artist's efforts were spectacular. below we see my humble contribution to the exhibition; a mounted specimen of Wilson's Lesser Schaffasbok.

schaffaaaaaaaaaaas!

now that the photo ban has been lifted we can share our schaffas with you. if you don't know what a schaffa is fair enough - they're pretty weird. go here to find out more. basically a schaffa is a plain wooden toy (created by the designer duo that is screamdance) waiting for an artist to have their arty way with it.

almost one hundred of these were on display in the black sheep foyer on friday night and boy were the efforts depressing! so much creativity and effort this time around - even more than in the inaugural schaffas exhibition way back in 2008.

now on to our contributions (from worst to best) as i'll let the mantis show off his own masterpiece: meet the L.P. coq...

salutations!

oh hello there. awkward to meet you. i'm the sparrow, and along with my friend the mantis we have created some art-type things that we'd like you to see and maybe one day own. we hope you like them.

come back any time (side note: is it anytime or any time? anytime just looks wrong)
